2022: A Year of Celebrations
“Life prepares you so that you are able to create your own happy ending.”
2022 was a fresh breath from the hassles of 2021. 🤦♂️ Mehnn, 2021 was hectic which made 2022 a beautiful year. I had to tweet, "I didn’t actually see shege in 2022”.
Speaking about the aftermath of 2021, in 2022 the world became open and we had to dump the use of the face mask. The COVID fear and impact faded greatly like we never had a pandemic — We went out full-blown.
Many things happened during the course of the year globally which are historical and perhaps leave an indelible mark on the world. Below are some of the occurrences
Russia Invaded Ukraine- On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a “special military operation” that it said was needed to force the “demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine.
The UK had three prime ministers in the space of two months- The proximate cause for the turmoil at 10 Downing Street was more than fifty members of Boris Johnson’s government resigning in July to protest the seemingly endless parade of scandals on his watch. He agreed to resign and was succeeded by Liz Truss. She lasted just forty-five days — the shortest tenure of any British prime minister in history
The UK lost the world’s longest-reigning monarch- Queen Elizabeth
The UK chose their first prime minister of colour- Rishi Sunak
Peter Obi grew some balls and gained the support of many Nigerian Youths to contest the office of the president of Nigeria.
Jagaban became the APC presidential flag bearer beating our star-boy- Prof Yemi Osinbajo and Rotimi Amaechi
Elon Musk bought Twitter-The world’s biggest social media troll
Lionel Messi finally won the World Cup in Qatar 🇶🇦
Pele died
Back to me “jare”, Let me highlight 2022 in some aspects of my life
Career
January started with me having a new role managing the supply chain function of the Non-food division of GTRC Kuwait- Colgate-Palmolive, Beesline, and Philips Lighting. It was challenging, however, thrilling. My skills got sharpened and still getting sharpened. Having just spent less than 2years in the company, a senior colleague resigned and I was given the opportunity to take over his role; almost one full year gone I am still floating and grateful for the opportunity. Looking forward to a promotion 😉.
Spiritual Life
My going to physical church services has been erratic- one week off and one week on…not a good thing 😔 but if I was to give an excuse, it was because of the pandemic year where we were worshipping online; I got lazy but I propose to be regular in 2023. However, I got hooked up on Apostle Joshua Selman’s messages listening back to back like every day, I must hear his voice. Respectfully speaking😛, I am falling in love with him; He is like the Bishop Oyedepo of our generation. One of my favourite messages from him is “The Book of Esther” — You guys must go find and listen to it and my Goddddddddddd; the man can singggggg.😫😫
I also read the bible almost every day in 2022, I am learning to meditate on scriptures and use them more often when praying… Like telling God what is in the bible, and confessing with authority based on my faith in God.
Love Life
I am blushing 😊 as I am writing this- 2022 was literally a year for my relationship. I was physically, spiritually, emotionally, financially, mentally and in every way involved with one lady. Imagine the emotional roller coaster I had in 2021 and here in 2022, it was bliss; of course with its own relationship baggage sha😏
First, I proposed in April in the presence of friends and family- it was so much fun, I later got introduced to the family and got legally married. In December, I had the best wedding party ever 🕺- Don’t tell anyone **I got tipsy**.
In 2022, I listened to relationship messages from Pastor Kingsley and even had counselling sessions with my Pastor Adebola Adebayo… Man must prepare, right? They said “if you fail to prepare, you prepare to fail”
Financial Life
One of the things I did faithfully in 2022 was being faithful to my tithing. I just believe that God gave me the money, how much is 10% to give back? I also remembered telling God that I wanted to start paying a certain amount of tithe to Him and true to his word, he provided me with means of paying that amount.
I also kept investing in a business I am partnering with within 2021, and it yielded me 15% interest every 2-months. I am grateful for that. God also blessed my side hustle, I usually go teach mathematics almost every evening after my 8–5 job. It paid me really well beyond my expectations and I enjoyed impacting these young kids. Read about my thoughts on finance here and here.
Also, I gave more money out in 2022 through lending and dashing out; I felt I was sowing and helping people reach their goals. And glory to God, I had money as gifts in 2022, it literally blew my mind. I went through my statement of account and can’t thank God enough.
As much as I made money, I also spent so much in 2022 — From travels to the proposal, introduction ceremony to the court marriage to going on a boat, to several fees paid for a project. I indeed give kudos to myself.
Study Life
Literally didn’t do any studying or academic learning in 2022 — Most I did was surfing and learning through Linkedin. I should develop myself in 2023.
Social Life
I actually did have fun in 2022, my social life was on point. Met more people, hung out more, ate more and Netflixed a lot. Read about my visit to the Lekki conservation centre in Lagos here. I communicated better and directly with my friends. Hoping to do better this year 2023.
Family Life
I am always grateful for my family members; they are the best! I was privileged to see all of them many times in the year 2022. Spending Christmas with my extended family and celebrating my wedding was the whole highlight for me in 2022, having expanded my family members, I am so grateful- ODEKUNLE X OSHO!
I will keep saying it, FAMILY IS ALL! If you don’t have one, make one!
Lessons from 2022
- Let GOD work
- Nothing is ever enough for a woman- Just do your best
- If you are tired, learn to rest; do not quit
- A fresh start isn’t always a new place. It’s a mindset.
- The right person will leave you if your “wahala” is too much.
- Don’t marry a quitter
- Healthy relationships include uncomfortable conversations.
- There’s something wrong with your character if opportunity controls your loyalty.
- Stability is also growth.
- We all make choices, but in the end, our choices make us.
Have a beautiful YEAR 2023 and please keep in touch… Also, comment and clap for me.
