I had Sex with a Pregnant Woman!
It was New Year’s Eve, my first time in the UK; the UK decided to flex its cold muscles on me. As I shivered my way through thoughts of where to spend the crossover night, my new family and I agreed to check out a Redeemed Church nearby. Spoiler alert: it was a great choice! The service was small but mighty — different families, heartfelt prayers, and enough “Amens” to warm the heart (but not my fingers).
As we prayed for 2024, I was laser-focused. Why? I had just moved to a new country, started living with my amazing wife, and had no job or even the faintest whiff of one. To sum it up, my life was the embodiment of “new beginnings.” 2024 felt like a blank cheque, and that night, I wasn’t going to let God off the hook — I needed Him to fill it in.
The highlight? Ringing in the new year with my lovely wife, a moment I’ll always treasure. After the “Happy New Year” shouts and final prayers, we braved the long, cold walk home, warmed by faith, hope, and a tiny bit of leftover adrenaline.
Stick around as I share how 2024 unfolded — it’s a story to make you laugh, inspire you, and get you hyped for 2025. Let’s do this!
Job Search Adventures
You know that Bible verse about hands that don’t work not eating? Well, I like eating — a lot — so job hunting became my full-time hustle. Let me tell you, fam, searching for a job is the job. Every day, morning, noon, and night, I was on Totaljobs, Indeed, CV Library, and LinkedIn like a professional scroll champion. I applied to over 100 jobs, so many that when rejection emails started rolling in, some were for positions I didn’t even remember applying for!
But hey, I wasn’t totally unlucky. I got a handful of interviews, which I quickly learned has its own emotional rollercoaster. Nothing stings quite like going through multiple interview stages only to hear, “Thanks, but no thanks.” Talk about heartbreak! Still, I kept my head up.
While hunting for the job, I cast my net wide. I applied as a health support worker, high school teacher, office administrator — you name it! But one role was strictly off-limits: warehouse jobs. Apparently, those are the Hunger Games of employment, and I wasn’t about to volunteer as tribute.
After about six weeks of relentless searching, I landed a part-time support worker role. Let me tell you, that first paycheck felt like winning the lottery! Still, I wasn’t done. I kept applying and eventually landed a second part-time job as a high school teacher. That gig was a whole vibe — walking into class and seeing those Grade 7 and 8 kids gave me major throwback feels.
For five months, those two jobs kept food on the table and the bills paid. Like I always say, “Don’t waste while you wait.” And then, in July, it happened. I landed my dream job with the perfect salary. The interview was intense, but it was such a great fit, it felt like destiny.
Looking back, it’s clear: that persistence pays off. The journey wasn’t easy, but it was worth every rejection email, late-night application, and early-morning prayer. Keep going, your breakthrough might be closer than you think!
New House, New Car, New Friends
When I arrived in the UK, we set up our life in a one-room spot in a shared apartment. Why go big when you’ve got no job and no money? Makes no sense, right? But honestly, we were happy. We soaked up the UK vibes while living with some amazing Nigerians. It was like having a big, loud family — occasional drama included, but nothing we couldn’t handle.
Then came the breakthrough — a new job meant a new chapter. We packed up and moved into a much bigger place, perfect for a growing family of three. Yep, I said three! **sheepish grin** More on that later in this review.
Finding a house in the UK, though? It’s no joke. You need patience, persistence, and enough Wi-Fi data to scroll through endless listings. Back in Nigeria, you could just pay someone to handle it all. But in the UK, every second costs money, and since I wasn’t about to dash out extra cash, I took on the challenge myself. Thankfully, God made it easy — I found a newly refurbished house with two parking spaces and a garden after just two viewings. Talk about favor!
And the blessings didn’t stop there. 2024 was also the year I got my first car. Imagine starting the year clueless and jobless, then ending it with a beautiful home and a car. Only God could script a turnaround like that!
But the real treasure of 2024? The people. Moving to a new country means meeting all kinds of folks, but not everyone becomes a friend. I was lucky to find some gems — people who showed up for me in ways big and small. From offering a place to crash, to thoughtful gifts, deep chats, and unforgettable moments, these friendships made my year. To all my 2024 fam, thank you for being part of the journey. Let’s do it all again in 2025 — bigger, better, and even more blessed!
Pregnancy: The Best Plot Twist of 2024
April 1st started like any other morning — until my wife woke me up with, “I’m pregnant.” Still half-asleep, I squinted at her and said, “Are you serious, or is this an April Fool’s joke?” She laughed and said, “The line is faint, but it’s there.” Now, you can imagine the chaos in my brain — was this real or a prank? Spoiler alert: it was very real.
Getting pregnant was a big deal for us, something we’d been praying and hoping for, given our situation. Honestly, my wife is the best person to tell this story. Maybe one day she’ll start a podcast and spill all the juicy details about pregnancy tests and faint lines. But for now, I’ll just say that when the pregnancy was confirmed, our excitement was off the charts.
The journey to delivery? Smooth as butter, thank God. I’ll save the delivery drama for another day because, trust me, that’s a whole story on its own.
Today, I’m writing this as a proud dad of the most handsome little boy. My heart overflows with gratitude because the Bible says, “Children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward.” Our lives have changed forever, and I can’t wait for all the adventures ahead with my son.
Cheers, little man — you’re already the best part of our story!
Personal Finance: The Year of the Joint Account
I don’t have too much to spill about my 2024 finances, but here’s the headline: I did something bold — I opened a freaking joint account. Yep, all my earnings now proudly parade themselves before my wife. Vulnerable? Absolutely. Worth it? Definitely.
At first, it was like trying to play with fire. I even had to develop an Excel sheet to track our allowances, savings, and expenses. It was a hot mess in the beginning, but over time, we found our rhythm. Now, the system runs like a well-oiled machine, and guess what? It’s working!
Do I feel broke sometimes? Oh, 100%. But as a family, we’re financially strong, and that’s what really matters. So, if you’re planning to ask me for money, don’t. Because technically, I don’t have any of my own.
More details to come another day, but for now, let’s toast to teamwork and shared goals!
